Health deterioration, safety at home and loneliness are common problems worldwide for the elderly

Like many other European countries, nearly nineteen percent of Hungary's population are over 65 years old. Already in 2013, the Hungarian Government started a national study among the elderly to find out the biggest problems they had in their daily living. They discovered that health deterioration, safety at home and loneliness were topics that most of the elderly people are concerned about. They continued national study with international market research to find an appropriate solution to help in addressed issues with elderly. After technology candidates were benchmarked, their acceptance was tested among elderly with smaller program at 2017.

Hungarian Government is committed to improving the quality of life for the elderly. They decided that main problems need to be solved which is a challenge for the society as well. In Hungary people feel that it is their duty to take care of the elderly and provide them proper care. Based on the earlier studies and surveys, Government started a project called “Helping Hands” which includes three functionalities – internet access for the elderly, smart phone and Vivago DOMI smart care phone. Program provides also training for the elderly to use the devices.

Vivago DOMI smart care phone supports health and safety at home

Vivago CARE watch, which at first glance looks like a wrist watch, assesses the daily activity of the elderly. If there is a change in their physical activity, circadian rhythm or sleep, system signals the health centre automatically. After this, the professionals at the centre are taking contact to the elderly people to find out the cause of the change in their wellbeing status. One of the main goals of this free service is to make the daily living healthier and safer for the elderly.

Vivago DOMI smart care phone enables real-time monitoring of health status and ability to function from the person living at home. The automatic notifications indicate any changes in the health status and both the watch and the care phone have an alarm button. The solution can also automatically call for help in situations that person cannot call for help by themselves.
